December begins with Chiron, the Wounded Healer stationing direct. There is a lot of pain in the world that is coming to the surface collectively, and many of us are tuned into that pain on a personal level. Chiron in Pisces shows us we’re all connected. It also shows us that by realizing this, and in doing what we can to heal the pain that seems outside ourselves, we heal too.
Mercury enters Capricorn on December 2nd, and it’s time to get real and commit to what’s important.
Venus ingresses into Aquarius on December 7th. Think of Venus in the sign of the Water Bearer as the cool girl, who is also a bit of an outsider, but also a bit of a nerd. She is quirky, offbeat, super smart, and probably heading down to a protest as we speak. In relationship, Venus in Aquarius is no picket fence, spouse, and 2.2 kids kind of gal. She needs room to move, space to breathe and is open (at least intellectually) to the idea of alternative relationship. She needs someone at least as smart as her, and who thinks outside the box. Friendship and rapport beat out romance and flowers any day. While Venus transits Aquarius, we can expect the unexpected in love, and our values could change. Aquarius shifts paradigms, invites rebellion and opens possibility. What was a friendship could blossom into love; serendipitous meetings may surprise us, and a committed relationship can find a fresh perspective.
The only Full Moon of the year in Gemini occurs on December 13th at 4:05 pm PT. From where I sit today, this looks like it will be a more lighthearted social Full Moon. Gemini is about the power of words, communication and continual learning. Somehow words will be in the spotlight right now. Hopefully they are words of power that shift the status quo in a meaningful way, but watch out for the trickster aspect of Gemini, and be alert to mind games and double talk.
Mars enters Pisces on December 19th. The Warrior in the sign of the compassionate Mystic may be just what we need right now. Although some may say that Mars’ desire for forward action could be diluted and confused in the sign of the Fish. But, perhaps we should envision a more positive embodiment of this paring: perhaps the Sohei warrior monks of Medieval and feudal Japan, or the Knights Templar. After all, is that not what activists strive for? Devotion to a cause; mindful adherence to an ideal, and the drive to create positive, life affirming change?
Mercury stations retrograde also on the 19th, at 2:55 am PT in Capricorn. Capricorn rules big business and government, so prepare to witness some interesting times as President Obama leaves the Whitehouse, and is replaced by Trump in January. The markets may also be in for some chaos. I would not be at all surprised to see the unexpected in this area. Let’s hope so. December 23rd through the 28th: Uranus at 20 degrees Aries opposite Jupiter at 20 degrees Libra, and trining Saturn at 20 degrees Sagittarius looks like something big is brewing. This is a very revolutionary aspect; something is coming to a head. Stay safe, stay grounded and be prepared.
The Sun enters Capricorn ushering in the return of the light with Winter Solstice on December 21st at 2:45 am PT. Happy birthday Capricorn! This is your personal New Year. We all have every sign somewhere in our birth charts, and wherever Capricorn is in your chart, is the area in which you will experience the urge to commit to something important in your life. Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign, meaning that it is a sign that is the gateway to a new season; an astronomical turning point. Capricorn resonates with the grounded tangible element of earth. On one hand Capricorn exemplifies the patient, wise, responsible hard working energy it is so known for, which often gives it the reputation for being boring. However, there is another side of Capricorn that you rarely read about. The Goat is also connected to a wildly sensual, in the body experience of earthly pleasure, that can border on debauchery. Let us recall the revelry of the ancient Roman festival of Saturnalia, that took place between the 17th until the 23rd of December. This was a time of breaking the rules, round the clock parties and all shades of carnival-like behaviour, including drinking, gambling and wild orgies.
The New Moon at 7 degrees Capricorn is on December 28th at 10:53 pm PT. This New Moon is quite well aspected and marks the time of the year when we get the chance to make new intentions around business, right livelihood, commitment and stability. Each new Moon is a fresh start for a reboot in a certain area of your life. Check your chart to see what house, or life area, this particular new Moon falls for you, to get a jump on intention setting and manifesting your potential for the next six months.
Uranus stations direct on the 29th, and as when any planet station direct or retrograde, it saturates the collective with its archetype. Uranus is the revolutionary, the rebel, the world shaker. It is also known as the Great Awakener. It’s a wild card, and anything can happen. Breathe deep, know what you stand for, and prepare for the unexpected. Take heart, as Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes has said, “We were made for these times”.
Happy holidays and much love to you all!
