June 2018

Create and Connect

June enters on a positive note. On the 1st, Mercury trines Mars helping us unite ideas and inspiration and channel it into action. Venus and Jupiter, known in traditional astrology as the “greater benefics” make a flowing trine aspect to each other, blessing this timeframe with optimism, emotional healing and a sense of belonging. Indulgence in pleasure, and time spent with amicable friendly people also underscore this aspect. It’s a good time to ask for a favour or grant one. On the 2nd, we have Venus making an enchanting trine to Neptune, which nearly makes for a full grand water trine between Venus, Jupiter and Neptune. Neptune adds a dreamy sense of romance to the mix. We may be feeling super tuned in and highly intuitive. It’s a great day for creating and connecting.
Head’s Up

Enjoy the weekend to its fullest and make inroads and connection with others as much as possible, because on June 5th we’ll be navigating an intense aspect as Venus opposes Pluto. This is an aspect we may even feel building before the 5th. Watch for competition, jealousy and the surfacing of patterns that need to be purged. Pluto is about transformation, and with Venus that can mean a catharsis that breaks down old forms and turns them into something new. This aspect may show up in the collective as well as the personal: news stories and headlines about sex and women’s issues will likely be at the forefront. On the other hand, let’s remember Venus in Cancer is the Great Mother archetype, connected to all that is life affirming, while Pluto in Capricorn aligns with such themes such as big business, the government and the patriarchy. The buy out of the Kinder Morgan pipeline by the Liberal government is a clear example of big business and bottom line thinking opposing the concerns of that which is life affirming. This could come to blows. On the 6th, Mercury and the Sun square Neptune, there is confusion in communication and not all may be as it seems. Lay low, avoid making commitments or final decisions until the air is cleared in the following days.

Mercury enters Cancer

Mercury enters Cancer on the 12th, we feel our way through conversations and communicate on a deeper level until June 29th, when the Messenger moves into Leo. We might be feeling self protective and wish to withdraw rather than mix. Pay attention to your inner voice and honor your own need for emotional space.
New Moon in Gemini

The New Moon arrives in Gemini on June 13th, and we have the chance to start something new. The most fertile ground to plant seeds will be the house in your chart that contains 22 degrees of Gemini. Themes around networking, communication, making new connections, and learning new skills are highlighted now. With Gemini, things such as workshops, webinars, short retreats and trips rather than lengthy courses of study or pilgrimage abroad are what resonates.

Neptune Retrograde

Neptune stations retrograde on June 18th until November. Neptune is the archetype related to The Dreamer, The Mystic, The Creative. It is also the Beguiler. If you have a planet or angle between 13 and 16 degrees of any of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces you are having a Neptune transit during this time. However, for all of us, during Neptune’s retrograde, we are called to pay attention to our dreams. Dreamwork and delving into archetypal study of your birth chart can provide immense insight right now. This is also a fertile time for creatives of all kinds. Development and exploration of the intuitive realm is facilitated by Neptune’s sojourn into the Otherworld. You may begin to study or deepen study of a metaphysical modality or be called to go on a spiritual pilgrimage. The only thing to remember with Neptune, is that it sometimes paints with the colors of dreams, and it may not be until after it ends that you find that some things, people, or ideas may have been seen through rose colored glasses. Keep your feet.
Happy Summer Solstice! Happy Birthday Cancer

June 21st at 3:07 am marks the astronomical turning point that is the beginning of summer. It is the longest day of the year, and heralds the beginning of Cancer season, when life is at its most fertile. Cancer is a cardinal water sign, meaning that it is a gateway to a seasonal turning point (in this case, summer), and resonates with the empathic element of water. Cancer embodies the archetypal feminine and is related to the archetype of the Great Mother. Cancer is connected to the family of humankind, as well as the personal family. Tribe, homeland, ancestral roots, passed down cultural traditions and psychological inheritance all are aligned with the archetype of Cancer. So too are the ideas of home, sanctuary, sustenance and who and what we belong to. While this is Cancer season, the energy of the Cancerian archetype is felt by the collective for the next 30 days or so.
Mars Retrograde

Mars stations retrograde on June 26th until August 27th. Mars is our desire, libido, the way we go after what we want, and the way we handle conflict. It’s our mojo. Our inner Warrior. When Mars goes retrograde, these things get turned inward. We may be hesitant to initiate something, we may second guess ourselves and our motivation might feel temporarily stalled during this time. Normal healthy anger can be turned inward, and we might experience passive aggression, either our own, or through someone else. It’s a good time to slow down and pay heed to what the universe is trying to tell us. Perhaps it’s not the right time to have it out with someone. Maybe we should wait until we’re absolutely clear before pushing something through.
Full Moon in Capricorn

June 27th delivers the only Full Moon in Capricorn of the year. Not only is this Moon in Capricorn, it’s also in aspect to Saturn, Capricorn’s ruling planet. This is a rather serious Full Moon. Issues of accountability, responsibility, and doing the right thing come into play. Something may come to light showing us that there are more steps to take, more to do, more consideration to be given to something. This Moon may highlight where we need to step up to the plate, do the work, and show up. Wherever we’ve been coasting, or not paying attention, preferring to dally in the romance of it all, we will be shown the reality of things. Reality does not have to be a bad thing. People often blanch when we talk about Saturn stuff, but Saturn is the way to long lasting true success and attainment. If we let it, Saturn can be one of our best friends, the friend who tells us what we need to know, not just what we want to hear.
