Spiritual seekers face unique challenges in navigating the material world. How do we balance practical matters with the challenges of the inner journey? How can ordinary folks flourish "on the ground" -- with jobs, families, finances, and so on -- without losing sight of their higher purpose? In this talk and mini-workshop, bestselling author and teacher Mark Matousek explores the promises, pitfalls, and paradoxes of spiritual seeking, and how they can be reconciled with everyday existence. Drawing on 35 years of experience as a non-dual practitioner, and personal guidance by a number of living masters, he offers practical advice for remaining centered -- and sane -- on the mysterious path of awakening. He will provide tools to help you:

  • Identify and cultivate an authentic spiritual path
  • Balance material life with spiritual seeking
  • Dissolve imaginary barriers between "lower" and "higher" aspirations
  • Avoid commercialism in the spiritual marketplace
  • Recognize fakery and exploitation among teachers
  • Locate your spiritual tribe or community
  • Release stress and expectation in the awakening process
  • Become "a lamp unto yourself" on the wisdom journey
  • There will be a question-and-answer session and book signing following the talk.
