Tuesday, October 16, 2018
6:30pm to 8:00pm

Banyen Books & Sound

When life is busy and the pace of the world feels constantly frantic, is it possible to embrace a simpler way of living? Brooke McAlary thinks it is, and she believes that learning to slow down is key.

As an over-achieving, stressed-out people-pleaser, the idea of a simpler, slower, more connected life seemed impossible to Brooke. Until she was forced to slow right down after being diagnosed with severe postpartum depression.

In this relaxed, honest and deeply personal talk, Brooke will share her biggest slow living lessons and how to incorporate them in to your life, no matter how busy and hectic it currently feels. Brooke shares the benefits and beauty of slow living, and offers simple ways we can all adopt small moments of slow in to our days, and enjoy those same amazing benefits.

Brooke McAlary is a slow-travelling, gutsy shiraz-appreciating writer who, after being diagnosed with severe post-natal depression in 2011, embarked on a one-woman mission to cut out the excess in her life and reconnect with what was really important. She is now immersed in the Slow Living philosophy, and makes it her mission to help others define and achieve their slow living goals.
She is the author of Slow: Simple Living for a Frantic World. She writes the blog Slow Your Home, and hosts and produces the podcast, The Slow Home Podcast. She is currently slow-travelling her way around North America with her family.
