Writer, artist, and filmmaker Andrew Struthers reads from The Sacred Herb / The Devil’s Weed, his new book exploring the hazy truths and half-baked misconceptions surrounding cannabis. Drawing on historical sources, stories collected from over 100 friends, and extensive personal research, Struthers subverts expectations on all sides and paints a hilarious portrait of the world’s most misunderstood plant and its faithful users.

Andrew Struthers was born in Scotland, raised in Uganda and Prince George, and lived in Tofino for many years before moving to his current home of Victoria. He’s the creator of the films Tigerbomb! A Symphony in Dynamite, Down to the Sea on Drugs, and the viral sensation Spiders on Drugs, and the author of The Green Shadow, Last Voyage of the Loch Ryan, Around the World on Minimum Wage, and The Sacred Herb / The Devil’s Weed.

“Andrew Struthers is one of that select band of writers whose minds are bent enough to be interesting but not so bent as to be unintelligible.”

Tom Sandborn, Vancouver Sun

“Outrageously funny, a literary triumph. . . . a raucously British Columbian masterpiece.”

Alan Twigg, BC Bookworld
