Banyen's Description:

Women hold a particular form of conversation with the world, and pass through unique thresholds of courage along the way. In this talk, given as a benefit for the organization Young Women Empowered, poet and evocateur David Whyte looks at five of these crucial thresholds, including different forms of beauty and learning to say no.

Among the themes David explores, poetically and probingly as ever, are "another form of conversation," "relationship to the unknown," "testing your mystery in the world," "the necessity of heartbreak," "the beauty of motherhood," "letting go of outer beauty," and "courage to accept life's invitation."

A portion of the proceeds of this talk will be donated to Young Women Empowered, an organization dedicated to empowering women to step up as leaders in their schools, communities and the world.

Among David Whyte's books are River Flow: New and Selected Poems and The Three Marriages.
