Publisher’s Description:

Voices of Classical Pilates is unique among Pilates books. It is not a technical book and it is definitely not a book of exercise instructions -- though reading it will improve your Pilates in general. It is, in many ways, a story book. Stories communicate not just information, but a greater transmission of energy and ideas. They also reveal the specific sensibilities of the storytellers, which brings us closer to them. The essays in Voices of Classical Pilates are very alive in those ways.

Here we have twenty eight classical Pilates teachers sharing their personal experiences and insights through wide-ranging topics. They cover everything from Pilates benefits, methodology, and history to teachers, teaching, teacher training, and much more.

The authors are all respected teachers from the classical tradition, which generally means they trace their lineage through the great Pilates Master Romana Kryzanowska. Sincere reverence for Romana and stories about her abound in Voices. Of course there are also stories about Joe, and many mentions of other Elders and teachers such as Kathy Grant and Ron Fletcher. The stories are wonderful and fully personal, and help keep the Pilates legacy alive.
